Vision and Mission
Empatheia, Inc. is a specific public benefit corporation (PBC) with the mission of collecting and disseminating hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) information to deliver relevant knowledge for patients, parents, caregivers and institutions. Empatheia makes it easy for individuals and families living with HLHS to find relevant information, understand ongoing research opportunities and download tools to ease the day-to-day medical management of caring for a family member with HLHS.
Empatheia has the specific benefit mission of financially supporting the Todd and Karen Wanek Family Program for Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.
Sisters by Heart (SBH) is a non-profit volunteer organization supporting families with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) children, particularly those who are newly diagnosed. SBH board members are heart moms who found each other during their own journey with HLHS and volunteer their time to provide information, hope, and empowerment to other HLHS families.
A major aspect of the SBH mission is to provide care packages to new mothers and fathers who are at the beginning of their journey. SBH provides a sense of community to support families from the birth of their HLHS warrior through their surgical interventions and beyond.
SBH provides information and links to help families understand HLHS. To learn more about SBH, visit their website at http://www.sistersbyheart.org
